Western Conference injury updates
Jimmy Greenfield: After Tuesday’s game Chicago Blackhawks coach Jeremy Colliton said that defenseman Connor Murphy would be out for two weeks. Wednesday Colliton didn’t sound as sure. Blackhawks medical staff trying to figure out a timeline for him.
Mark Lazerus: The Blackhawks have put Murphy on the LTIR, so he’ll be out for at least 11 games.
Adrian Dater of Colorado Hockey Now: Colorado Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar said that Mikko Rantanen is listed as “week-to-week.” When pressed more about the timeline, Bednar said:
“Like, I can say, I don’t think it’s going to be a 4-6 week injury, I’ll give you that. We’re hoping it’s going to be significantly sooner than that.”
That timeline basically rules out any serious knee injuries – torn ACL or torn knee cartilage.
How his left leg responds in the next few days will give them a better idea a the potential timeline.
Jessi Pierce: The Minnesota Wild have put Kevin Fiala on the IR with a lower-body injury.
After goaltender Devan Dubnyk suffered an injury Tuesday night, goaltender Kaapo Kahkonen was recalled on an emergency basis.
Minnesota Wild: Goaltender Devan Dubnyk is listed as day-to-day with an upper-body injury.
Forward Jordan Greenway is traveling with the team.
Jeremy Rutherford: The St. Louis Blues will find out Samuel Blais’ status today. If he’s not able to go, Zach Sanford or Robby Fabbri will take his spot in the lineup.
Murat Ates: Winnipeg Jets coach Paul Maurice said that even though Anthony Bitetto and Tucker Poolman have been practicing, they haven’t been cleared for game action yet.
“I can’t confirm that they’re ready to go. They’ll have to get through another full practice before we know and we’ll get the doctors to look at them again.”
