Shohei Ohtani continued his hot hitting in the opener of the Freeway Series on Friday night with a majestic home run that gave the Los Angeles Dodgers an initial lead in their eventual loss in extra innings.

With the game knotted in a scoreless tie, Ohtani hit a two-run home to center field that had a 113.1 mph exit velocity and traveled 455 feet. It represented Ohtani’s fifth home run in the last six games, with each of them sailing at least 400 feet.

Ohtani’s latest home run gave him 22 on the season, which leads the National League, and also made Dodger Stadium history during the Stacast Era (since 2015).

According to MLB stats researcher Sarah Langs, Ohtani has hit the most home runs to carry a minimum of 440 feet at Dodger Stadium in a single season with four:

Dodger Stadium has had 51 440+ ft HR under Statcast (2015), 3rd-fewest of any current MLB park in that span (Petco 50, Oracle 43)

Overall this season, Ohtani has hit seven home runs of at least 440 feet. That’s tied with Joc Pederson for most in one year since Statcast data tracking began.

Dodger Stadium has seen just 13 home runs of 450-plus feet under Statcast, which is the second-fewest during that span. Only Petco Park (12 home runs of minimum 450 feet) has allowed less. Of the 13 hit at Dodger Stadium, Ohtani has three of them and is the only player with more than one.
