Robert Woods Believes Rams Need To Be More Aggressive And ‘Nasty’

The 2019 NFL season has certainly not gone as well for the Los Angeles Rams as many hoped it would. Through five games, the Rams find themselves with just a 3-2 record after back-to-back losses to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Seattle Seahawks.

While it is not terrible, it is far from where they were last year as they started off 8-0 and only lost three games all season, eventually advancing to the Super Bowl.

With expectations high for the Rams in 2019, things have not been up to standard. As the team seeks answers, wider receiver Robert Woods suggests that they become more aggressive, via Lindsey Thiry of ESPN:

“I personally feel like we’ve got a lot of work to do,” Woods told ESPN. “Just got to play better, play faster, play more aggressive and — be nasty, I think, really.

“That’s the biggest thing I would say. Be the aggressor. Be the hammer, not the nail.”

The Rams certainly seem to be lacking any type of aggressive mentality as they have come out complacent in every game, failing to score in any first quarter of 2019.

Woods has been having a solid season so far, totaling 355 yards on 31 catches. However, he has yet to record a touchdown reception.

Cooper Kupp has become the clear favorite of Jared Goff, recording four touchdowns already. It should come as no surprise as Kupp was on his way to becoming the Rams top receiver last year before an injury derailed his season.

Although there is no pinpointing exactly what should be fixed, Goff has had more than his fair share of turnovers. According to ESPN, Goff has recorded a turnover in each of the five games of 2019, the longest streak of his career. Goff’s seven interceptions put him just five away from the 12 he threw in 2018, his career-high.

While it is easy to blame the defense considering the Rams have put up solid offensive stats, the offense needs to make the most of every opportunity they have. There have been some key mistakes the last two games that have led to losses, so hopefully, Woods and the rest of the team can turn it around beginning in Week 6.
