Rams Sign Jachai Polite, John Wolford & 7 Others To Reserve/Future Contracts

4 Min Read

Although the 2019 NFL season may be over for the Los Angeles Rams, they are still doing what they can to beef up the roster by signing nine players to reserve/futures contracts.

Defensive back Adonis Alexander

Alexander came into the league as a sixth-round pick in the 2018 supplemental draft after he was was ruled academically ineligible for his final year at Virginia Tech. He spent his rookie year with the Washington Redskins before being released and signing with the Rams’ practice squad.

Defensive tackle Marquise Copeland

Copeland signed with Los Angeles as an undrafted free agent out of Cincinnati. He registered 11 tackles in the preseason and was able to make the practice squad after final roster cuts.

Wide receiver Greg Dortch

Dortch has already bounced around from three teams as another undrafted rookie with the New York Jets and Carolina Panthers before ending up with the Rams. The former second-team All-ACC wideout out of Wake Forest is hoping to etch out a more permanent home this time around.

Linebacker Jeff Holland

Holland has also moved around quite a bit since entering the league as an undrafted free agent in 2018. He spent his rookie year with the Denver Broncos until doing quite a bit of traveling after landing with four different teams in the 2019 campaign. It appears he will have a shot to stick around in Los Angeles this time.

Guard Jeremiah Kolone

Kolone was a four-year starter at San Jose State prior to signing with the Rams as an undrafted free agent. His stint thus far has been a bit of a revolving door after being released twice and brought back for the third time.

Linebacker Jachai Polite

Perhaps the most notable name on the list, Polite was a former third-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft by the New York Jets. It did not take him very long to wear out his welcome in New York and with the Seattle Seahawks and he ultimately spent most of his rookie year on the Rams practice squad.

Center Nate Trewyn

Unlike most of the unrated rookies on this list, Trewyn actually got promoted to an active roster with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He wound up being waived by Tampa Bay in early November and the Rams wasted no time in picking him up off waivers just two days later.

Tight end Ethan Wolf

Wolf spent the preseason with the Jacksonville Jaguars but was unable to make it past the final roster cuts. He is hoping to try and make his NFL debut in the 2020 campaign.

Quarterback John Wolford

Wolford signed with the Rams following in impressive stint in the AAF with the Arizona Hotshots. He followed it upon by flashing some promise in the preseason by completing 25-of-44 passes for 249 yards and three touchdowns.

Although he did not make the final cut, the Rams made sure to bring him back to their practice squad.
