Rams Rumors: Sophie Luoto Being Promoted To Director Of Football Operations

The Los Angeles Rams’ coaching staff has undergone a lot of changes this offseason after a disappointing 9-7 to the 2019 season, a year after reaching the Super Bowl.

It appears the changes have not been limited to the coaching staff at it appears they have made some in the front office as well.

According to Charles Robinson of Yahoo, the Rams are promoting manager of football administration in their player personnel department, Sophie Luoto, to the role of director of football operations:

I’m hearing the #Rams are going to be promoting football administration staffer Sophie Luoto to Director of Football Operations, making her one of the #NFL‘s highest-ranking female executives in the #NFL. She’s been very well-respected amongst the Rams staff and players.

As Robinson noted, Luoto will become one of the highest-ranking female executives in the NFL. She will replace Bruce Warwick, who left after the season to become the chief of staff for the Florida State football team.

In her new role, Luoto will be in charge of team and scouts travel, operation of the team’s practice facility, coordination of visits by professional and former college players to team’s facilities and compliance with the NFL on game day operations.

Luoto is not the only female to be making a name for herself in the NFL as the Cleveland Browns named Callie Brownson their new Chief of Staff under new head coach Kevin Stefanski on Jan. 31 and San Francisco 49ers offensive assistant coach Katie Sowers recently became the first woman to coach in a Super Bowl.

Luoto’s reputation throughout the league is very strong, so it is nice to see the Rams rewarding her for her hard work with a promotion.
