Rams News: SoFi Stadium To Open With Taylor Swift Concert On July 25 And 26, 2020

3 Min Read

Ever since the Los Angeles Rams moved back to the city, owner Stan Kroenke has had a vision to build a state-of-the-art stadium that can become the No. 1 hub for sports and entertainment across the world.

A few years have gone by, but Kroenke is finally seeing that vision come to fruition as the stadium in Inglewood is almost complete. The Rams recently announced a partnership with the tech company SoFi for the naming rights of the stadium, which will be called SoFi Stadium for at least the next 20 years.

The Rams are currently playing their last season at the Coliseum before moving into their new home when the stadium is completed in 2020. It appears they won’t be the first ones to call the stadium home though as it was announced that the grand opening of SoFi Stadium will be a Taylor Swift concert on July 25 and 26, 2020:

We’re excited to announce that @taylorswift13, the first female artist to open a @NFL stadium, will be performing at #SoFiStadium for our first shows — July 25 and 26, 2020! Tickets on-sale Oct. 17. pic.twitter.com/20DHYBrUX5

It does not come as a surprise that the stadium is being opened with a concert and Swift was the perfect candidate as not only is she one of the most popular musicians in the world, but she also has a history of successful concerts in Los Angeles.

Swift already has a banner dedicated to her at Staples Center, the only musician to do so, as she has the most sold-out shows in the arena’s history.

The Rams’ first game at SoFi Stadium will likely be in the preseason next year, so August of 2020. SoFi Stadium is also expected to be the home of Super Bowls, College Football Playoffs, Final Fours, the 2028 Olympics and many other big events in the future.
