Rams News: Sebastian Joseph-Day Excited For Homecoming Against Giants In Week 6

The quick road trip to take on the New York Giants in Week 6 will mean a little extra for Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Sebastian Joseph-Day.

Joseph-Day was born in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania and grew up with ties to New Jersey before going on to play college football at Rutgers. He is now set to make his return to the old stomping grounds when the Rams travel to MetLife Stadium to take on the Giants.

Despite being on the visiting team, the 26-year-old is expecting a personal home crowd to assemble. He is admittedly looking forward to putting on a show in front of some familiar faces, via Stu Jackson of the team’s official website:

“(The vibes) are going to be sensational, immaculate, all that and more,” Joseph-Day told theRams.com with a big smile after Wednesday’s practice. “I’m always super excited, man, to be able to play in front friends and family – not just my family, but now friends, coaches, family, so it’s it’s gonna be an awesome experience.”

Joseph-Day added that it will be quite the homecoming for him and he is excited to make his loved ones proud:

“So I have a lot of ties in Jersey,” Joseph-Day said. “It’s gonna be honestly like a homecoming to me, so I’m super excited and I’m just you know proud to just you know represent the LA Rams over there in Jersey and represent Jersey (and Pennsylvania) at the same time so I’m just excited man. It’s gonna be lit.”

Joseph-Day’s excitement is certainly understandable since players are not often given the chance to go back to where it all started. Of course, he has good reason to be optimistic that he and the Rams can emerge victorious.

Joseph-Day will have an opportunity to reach an important milestone as he looks to record a career-high in sacks. He already has two in the 2021 NFL season and needs just one more against the Giants to do it in front of his home crowd.

The departure of defensive tackle Michael Brockers left a notable void to fill up front alongside Aaron Donald. Fortunately, the emergence of Joseph-Day has helped serve as a stabilizing factor while also helping to beef up the pass rush.

The defense for L.A. is trying to find its footing amid the injuries to both the secondary and linebacker corps. They will need the defensive line to step it up in the coming weeks until they are back to full health.
