Rams News: Sean McVay Reveals Rob Havenstein Is ‘Making Good Progress,’ Could Play On Sunday Against Cardinals

The Los Angeles Rams suffered one of their most lopsided losses in franchise history against the Baltimore Ravens on Monday, falling to a disappointing 6-5 on the season. They now trail the Minnesota Vikings by two games for the second Wild Card spot in the NFC playoff picture.

Prior to the matchup, the Rams received some much-needed reinforcements on the offensive side of things. Wide receivers Brandin Cooks and Robert Woods each returned to the starting lineup, giving quarterback Jared Goff another pair of weapons to work with.

Cooks had been sidelined since Week 8 when he suffered his second concussion of the season against the Cincinnati Bengals. Woods was held out of last week’s contest against the Chicago Bears due to a personal matter.

As the Rams turn the page and look to get back in the win column against the Arizona Cardinals, they stand to benefit with another key contributor potentially re-entering the fold.

Rams head coach Sean McVay revealed that right tackle Rob Havenstein is trending in the right direction and might play on Sunday, via Stu Jackson of TheRams.com:

Rams head coach Sean McVay said RT Rob Havenstein (knee) is “making good progress” and there’s a chance he will play Sunday against the Cardinals in Arizona. However, his status for Sunday hasn’t been officially decided yet.

“We’ll have a little bit more of an update as the week progresses,” McVay said.

Havenstein has missed the last two games with a knee injury, leaving a gaping hole on the right side of the offensive line. It’s a unit that is currently without two additional starters in Brian Allen and Joseph Noteboom, who previously suffered season-ending injuries.

Filling in for Havenstein has been rookie Bobby Evans, who most notably enjoyed a strong performance in the Rams’ Week 11 win over the Bears. He allowed zero pressures in 21 pass-blocking snaps, giving Goff plenty of time to get rid of the football with Khalil Mack on the opposite side of the ball.

While it remains to be seen if Havenstein will suit up on Sunday, tight end Gerald Everett’s status is also in question after he sustained a knee injury in Monday’s loss to the Ravens. With the exception of those two, the Rams enter Week 13 with a relatively healthy squad ahead of their road matchup against the Cardinals.
