Rams News: Sean McVay Relishing In Having Fans At SoFi Stadium

A vision for Los Angeles Rams team owner Stan Kroenke finally came to fruition with fans in attendance for a Week 1 victory over the Chicago Bears at SoFi Stadium.

It did not take long for Rams fans to get the decibels going thanks to their efforts on the field. The defense jumpstarted things with a crucial interception in the end zone and head coach Sean McVay’s offense needed just three plays to capitalize on it with an explosive 67-yard touchdown.

Although the glitz and glamour of the $5 billion venue is a sight to behold for fans, McVay is happy that the product on the field matched up to it.

“It was electric. I think everybody wants to talk about this stadium. It is an iconic venue that Mr. Kroenke built. But I thought the players did a great job of giving the fans something to get excited about. And they came out. You know, you almost get goose bumps when you walk out for the pregame and you’re kind of just looking at it and you realize how much the fans make the atmosphere and the environment. I can’t even tell you how much better it felt because this is an incredible venue but it’s about these fans. They did a great job and hopefully we’ll have a lot more like that and it will just continue to build.”

While the Rams may have already used the stadium during the 2020 campaign, it is safe to say it paled in comparison to having a packed house. The team has a unique opportunity to bring their own brand of ‘Showtime’ back to Inglewood.

McVay has been touted as one of the best offensive minds in the league since taking over as head coach in 2017. There was plenty of hype that his prowess paired with quarterback Matthew Stafford’s skill set would make for an intriguing recipe for success on this side of the ball.

The duo has praised each other as kindred spirits when it comes to discussing football and fans got an early glimpse of the result after this revamped group put up nearly 400 yards of total offense in the 34-14 win over the Bears. Not only that, it became evident that the Rams have finally managed to capture an element of home-field advantage with the crowd noise.

Much has been said about the Rams attempting to become the second team in as many years to win a Super Bowl at home. Even if McVay is focused on the task at hand, their performance helps lend some credence to the idea.
