The Los Angeles Rams have the talent and depth to properly defend their Super Bowl crown, but health has been a question mark so far in the offseason.
Several players in the rotation have dealt with nagging injuries, preventing them from getting meaningful reps in training camp. The offense has been hit particularly hard, with Van Jefferson, Cam Akers and Darrell Henderson all missing time with various injuries.
However, things are finally looking up in that department as head coach Sean McVay said Jefferson has been making headway in his knee recovery, via Stu Jackson of TheRams.com:
Sean McVay said WR Van Jefferson (minor knee surgery during camp) is “making good progress” and that the Rams are taking his availability for Week 1 vs. Bills “a day at a time.”

While Jefferson’s Week 1 availability is in doubt, McVay had better news for his running backs as Akers and Henderson will be available against the Bills:
Rams head coach Sean McVay when asked about RBs Cam Akers and Darrell Henderson after practice today:
“Everybody’s good to go.”

Jefferson had a procedure done to fully fix an issue in his knee, while both Akers and Henderson were both dealing with soft-tissue injuries. The receiver room is deep with options to replace Jefferson as the third wideout on the field, while having Akers and Henderson in uniform is much more important given the lack of proven talent behind them.
As of now, it’s likely that the Rams are conservative with Jefferson so as not to re-aggravate anything. Meanwhile, McVay might look to split snaps evenly between Akers and Henderson in order to keep them as fresh as possible during the 2022 season.
