The Los Angeles Rams suffered a hugely disappointing loss to the Denver Broncos on Sunday Night Football, blowing a 16-0 halftime lead to lose 30-26 and drop to 1-2 on the season. The Rams had opportunities to win late, but a controversial pass interference call against Josh Wallace all but ensured Sean McVay’s team would go home with the loss.

Regardless of whether or not the pass interference call was right, the Rams can and should have won Sunday’s game. Pitching a first-half shutout only to give up 30 points in the second half is not a winning formula for any team, especially a team missing it’s two most important players in Myles Garrett and Puka Nacua. Because of that, McVay did not want to dwell on the possible incorrect call, according to Gary Klein of The L.A. Times:

From the other point of view, Broncos receiver Pat Bryant spoke about the call and admitted he gave a bit of an acting job once he felt some contact from Wallace.

“It was… it was a little pass interference,” Bryant told Romi Bean of CBS Colorado. “I did—I did sell it just enough, you know what I’m saying, to get the flag. But he definitely gave me a little nudge that I felt, and I felt like I couldn’t get the ball, so it was either the ball or the call, and we ended up getting the call.”

It was clear from every replay angle that Bryant oversold the contact he got from Wallace. The referees clearly felt that Wallace interfered with Bryant’s ability to catch the ball, making the call that all but gave the game to the Broncos, when the play would have won the game for the Rams if not called as it would have been an interception.

McVay very rarely focuses on things like missed calls, tending to focus more on what his team could have done better. Giving up 30 points in a single half is bad regardless of what the refs do, and they’ll have to figure out what went wrong there before their big Week 4 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Davante Adams not worried about Rams’ 1-2 start

Not many expected the Rams to lose two of their first three games to start the season, but there is no panic within the building. Star wide receiver Davante Adams spoke about the first three games and why he’s not worried.

“Just stay in it. It’s nothing to freak out about, man. There’s a lot of football left,” Adams told the California Post. “It’s not like we’re not playing good ball, obviously excluding that first game. Unfortunately, it’s… I don’t know if it’s unfortunate, but based on our situation, unfortunately this league is about wins and losses. There’s a lot we can take from a game like this and feel good about. But there’s no moral victories, so definitely disappointed to not finish it out. Just got to get back to what we do and that’s going back to practice and get back to the drawing board and just find a way to finish out some of these games.”
