The Los Angeles Rams were humbled a bit in Week 6, falling to the San Francisco 49ers, 24-16, on Sunday Night Football to drop to 4-2 on the season.

While the score ended up being somewhat close, the 49ers were in complete control and both sides of the ball the whole game.

It was a particularly disappointing performance for the Rams’ offense, which had been their biggest strength going into this game.

After the game, Rams head coach Sean McVay did not make excuses for the loss and said his team is going to use it as a chance to learn and get better moving forward, via Stu Jackson of TheRams.com:

“A lot of uncharacteristic things we made,” McVay said. “We had a lot of our players that we count on that didn’t come through in some situations that they typically do, but it’s a great learning opportunity for us.”

Rams quarterback Jared Goff had his worst game of the season, constantly missing on open throws in big spots. He finished 19-of-38 for 198 yards with two touchdowns and one interception, which was his worst statistical game of the season.

He echoed his head coach’s thoughts saying that the Rams will use this as a learning experience to prepare for next week’s matchup with the Chicago Bears:

“It’s a great chance for us to look in the mirror and get better,” Goff said. “We have another big game next Monday night, but yeah, a lot of stuff to work on, a lot of stuff to be better at.”

The Rams are still very much in the playoff mix at 4-2. They have the tough part of their schedule coming up though so they will have to clean up the mistakes if they want to remain in the conversation to win a tough NFC West division.

It starts with Goff, who has been outstanding in the team’s win this season and clearly will have to continue that level of play for the Rams to be successful.
