The NFL trade deadline has come and gone and surprisingly the Los Angeles Rams stood pat.
Through eight weeks, the Rams sit at 3-4 so many around the league expected them to be active during the deadline. Los Angeles was reportedly in the mix for players like Christian McCaffrey and Brian Burns, but no deals were ultimately agreed upon.
Cam Akers was a popular name that most expected would be moved due to his strained relationship with the Rams. However, L.A. refused to deal him despite having multiple offers on the table and now he could suit up for the team moving forward, via Tom Pelissero of NFL Network:
The #Rams turned down multiple offers for RB Cam Akers before Tuesday’s trade deadline and now are working with Akers’ agent in hopes he’ll play for them again this season, per sources.
Akers has been inactive the past two games for what the team called personal reasons.

It seemed like a parting of ways would be best for both sides, but according to Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic there’s now a possibility he suits up for the Rams again according to Sean McVay after the two had a conversation:
Sean McVay said he and Cam Akers had a positive conversation this morning. He said that Akers told him he would like to be a part of the team moving forward, but Akers and team will process that conversation and work through their options. Akers will not practice today.

It’s been an odd saga for Akers who came into the year expected to be the primary back only to see a reduced role and eventually ruled out. The running game has been anemic all year, so if Akers does ever play again it could be the spark the team needs to get out of its funk.
