The annual NFL Honors were held last week in San Francisco, which saw Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford take home the MVP Award.
Puka Nacua was also a finalist for 2025 Associated Press Offensive Player of the Year honors, which went to Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
Smith-Njigba won the award with 272 points and 14 first-place votes. San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey finished second with 223 points and 12 first-place votes, while Nacua placed third after receiving 170 points and eight first-place votes.
Nacua said he was honored just to be in the running for the Offensive Player of the Year Award, via Wyatt Miller of TheRams.com:
“It’s super exciting,” Nacua said of being a finalist for the award. “I feel blessed.”
Nacua led the NFL with 129 catches, and finished second with 1,715 receiving yards while recording 105 rushing yards and scoring 11 total touchdowns. It was a historic season for the 24-year-old, who also received his second-career Pro Bowl and All-Pro selections.
Nacua is one of the best wide receivers in the sport today not just for his highlight reel catches, but his ability to block downfield as well. He takes great pride in that and has proven to be the ultimate team player for a Rams team that fell just short of their goal this season.
Even with their difficult NFC Championship Game loss to the Seahawks, the Rams’ future remains bright and Nacua should continue to be a major part of that for many years to come.
He is also due to get paid as the receiver is eligible to sign an extension this offseason, which surely will be a priority for the Rams.
Rams to face 49ers in Australia
The Rams will play a designated home game in Australia next season and the NFL recently revealed they are going to face the 49ers at Melbourne Cricket Ground.
“As we make history with the NFL and bring the first regular season game to Australia, we are pleased to take our annual match-up against our NFC West rival San Francisco 49ers to the MCG,” said Los Angeles Rams President Kevin Demoff. “Since we first secured marketing rights to the country in 2021 and more recently since the announcement of this game last year, we have seen tremendous excitement for our team from fans both in Australia and also across the world. We look forward to spending this offseason continuing to deepen our connection with the Melbourne community leading up to the game this fall.”
