This has been a season the Los Angeles Rams would like to forget so far. The team has been brutalized by injuries and is off to a 1-4 start as they now enter their bye week. Despite so much going wrong, however, one bright spot has undoubtedly been the play of running back Kyren Williams.

The Rams have relied on Williams in a big way offensively as he ranks third in the NFL in total touches. While the efficiency hasn’t been excellent, especially with the injuries on the offensive line, Williams is tied for the league lead in touchdowns with seven through the first five weeks.

With their bye week now here, one might think Williams would take the time to relax a bit, but it is quite the opposite as he plans on continuing to work hard and feels the Rams can’t afford to coast too much during this bye.

“I think it’s just staying on it. I’m not using the bye week as a bye week,” Williams said when asked about his plans. “I might go see my sisters and whatnot, but during the week, I’m going to continue to keep working. I’m not using this as, ‘Oh, we get to kick our feet up and relax.’ There’s no reason to kick our feet up. We’re not on autopilot. We’ve got to continue to keep going. We’ve got to continue to just keep having that positive energy throughout the building and throughout the team because we know what we’re capable of, so we’ve just got to continue to keep meeting those standards.”

The Rams came into this season with reasonable expectations on building upon last year’s trip to the playoffs, but things simply haven’t gone their way so far. That being said, Williams still believes in what this team can accomplish so he will work hard to ensure he does his part to help turn things around when they get back on the field.

One positive sign for the Rams is that they’ve been extremely competitive despite all of their injuries. Three of their four losses were by one score so if they can maintain their focus, put in the work as Williams spoke on and, most importantly, get healthy they have the ability to turn this season around.

Matthew Stafford: Rams can’t get discouraged by 1-4 start

Without a doubt a leader on this Rams team is quarterback Matthew Stafford, a future Hall of Famer who has accomplished so much in this league. And he knows the Rams can’t afford to just lay down now after this 1-4 start.

Stafford recently spoke on this, saying players can’t be scared to put themselves back on the field after tough plays and losses. The quarterback added that the Rams must trust that the preparation they go through every week is enough to succeed when they get on the field.
