Rams News: Jordan Fuller Suffers Season-Ending Ankle Injury In Loss To 49ers

The Los Angeles Rams saw their five-game winning streak come to an end in the final regular-season game of the season when they couldn’t hold a 17-0 lead and lost to the San Francisco 49ers.

The Arizona Cardinals also lost to the Seattle Seahawks though, so the Rams still won the NFC West and will host the Cardinals next week in the first round of the playoffs.

Perhaps the most disappointing aspect of the loss to the 49ers was that the Rams did not come out of it health, which was the goal above all else with the start of the playoffs around the corner.

The most notable injury was to safety Jordan Fuller, who suffered an ankle injury when he was stepped on by a 49ers player. Sean McVay revealed that it unfortunately was a season-ending injury, via Stu Jackson of TheRams.com:

Rams head coach Sean McVay on Monday said safety Jordan Fuller’s ankle injury against the 49ers will cause Fuller to miss the rest of the season, and may also require surgery.

Fuller sustained the injury with 12:48 remaining in Sunday’s regular season finale and did not return after exiting the game.

“That’s a big loss for us,” McVay said.

With Fuller out, Terrell Burgess and Nick Scott will likely see time at safety in his place while Jalen Ramsey could take over as the defensive signal-caller.

In addition to Fuller, the Rams also have some players banged up going into the playoffs:

Additionally, Los Angeles’ other starting safety, Taylor Rapp, is in concussion protocol, while cornerback Darious Williams has a shoulder injury that is still being evaluated. Running back Buddy Howell has a hamstring injury that could cause him to miss “anywhere between one to two weeks.”

Meanwhile, outside linebacker Leonard Floyd is dealing with a “back strain” and wide receiver Van Jefferson a “a little bit of a shoulder” injury, but those injuries won’t affect either player’s game status this week.

Hopefully none of these injuries are serious and all will be able to play against the Cardinals. The good news is that the game won’t be played until Monday, so the Rams have an extra day to get everyone healthy.
