The Los Angeles Rams have officially begun their journey to defend their Super Bowl title as training camp is officially underway.
The Rams reported to UC Irvine and the team has already been hard at work working through concepts and getting ready for the upcoming 2022 season. As is always the case, Los Angeles is being careful with its stars including Jalen Ramsey, who is recovering from two AC joint sprains that he recently underwent surgery to repair.
Ramsey was originally slated to go on the PUP list, but the team was able to clear him and allow him to participate in practice albeit on the sidelines. With a little less than two months until the season opener, Ramsey is playing it smart and taking it easy to ensure he’s healthy for the long haul, via Stu Jackson of TheRams.com:
“I’m going to make sure I’m 100 percent,” Ramsey said. “And really, it’s a lot of me leaning on the training staff and the coaches, because, I mean, like I said, if it was up to me, I’d probably just go out there and thug it out again for another however many weeks I gotta do it, right? But I want to be the best version of myself for myself and my teammates, so I’m going to just listen to what they tell me to do and be smart about it.”
Ramsey revealed earlier in the offseason that he played most of the 2021 season with the shoulder injuries and while it didn’t affect his play too much, it’s in his and the Rams’ best interest that he returns fully healthy. Los Angeles has done well to make sure their veterans get enough rest throughout the summer and limiting Ramsey to the sideline is the best approach for him right now.
Assuming there are no setbacks, the star defensive back should be ready to go for Week 1 and it will be exciting to see him play with the same fire and edge fans have gotten used to.
