Rams News: Eric Weddle Feels One Strong Performance Can Turn Season Around

The Los Angeles Rams were unable to put an end to the San Francisco 49ers undefeated start to the 2019 NFL season and are now in the midst of a three-game losing streak heading into their Week 7 matchup with the Atlanta Falcons.

There have been a number of factors that have attributed to their lackluster play as of late. While the defense has experienced its fair share of struggles in recent weeks, the abysmal state of the offense certainly has not done them any favors throughout the bulk of their recent skid.

It is safe to say that the Rams have fallen short of expectations thus far now that the reigning NFC champions have fallen to third place in the division. Regardless, it appears those in the locker room are still optimistic about being able to get back on track.

Safety Eric Weddle feels the Rams only simply need to get back in the win column in order to put their struggles behind them, via Stu Jackson of the team’s official website:

“I can only go back to what I’ve been through in my career, and rightfully so,” Weddle said. “The outside is going to pummel us, and rightfully so, we haven’t played good. But it takes just one game, getting back to the basics.”

Weddle is in his 13th NFL season, so he has truly seen it all in this league. He doubled down on it only taking one positive game to get back rolling:

“I’ve been on some long (winning) streaks, I’ve been on some losing streaks, but it just takes one play, one game, couple of events, right?” Weddle said. “Defense makes a stop, offense goes down and scores, special teams makes a turnover – just little things that aren’t happening for us right now, they’ll start happening. (We’re) 3-3 right now, no one’s crowned a Super Bowl champ after six games, but we’re 3-3 for a reason and we just haven’t been good enough, so we’ve got to get better.”

It is undoubtedly encouraging to see that the veteran leaders in the locker are not ready to press the panic button just yet. Although the Rams have dug themselves in a bit of a hole early on, there is still plenty of time to recover.

Fortunately, this week’s matchup against a one-win Falcons team could be just what they need to find their footing for a potential resurgence.
