Rams News: Cooper Kupp Feeling Good Physically After Week Off

With a playoff berth locked up, the Los Angeles Rams chose to sit a number of its key players in their regular season finale against the San Francisco 49ers. That included the likes of quarterback Matthew Stafford, running back Kyren Williams and wide receiver Cooper Kupp, among others.

A little extra rest was undoubtedly a good thing for Kupp, who has dealt with injuries throughout this season. But the star receiver has proven that he can raise his game to a different level in the postseason and he is feeling ready to go after the week off.

“Yeah, I feel good,” Kupp said. “I think the training staff and the guys involved and making sure the guys stay up do the things we’re supposed to do so we can kind of turn the bodies over and be ready to go this week did a great job and obviously have trusted those guys and their knowledge of the human body as it were. So, yeah feeling good.”

The Rams training staff has had plans in place to make sure the players will be at their best and Kupp had a lot of praise for them overall.

“I do,” Kupp responded when asked if he felt better this week. “I mean, like I said, kudos to (Vice President of Sports Medicine and Performance) Reggie (Scott) and the training staff, the strength staff for how they we’re able to turn some of those guys. Some of us got an opportunity to have last week to get our bodies turned over and so very thankful for them and the plans they put together for us.”

Cooper Kupp not treating Rams playoff games different than regular season

Now with the postseason here, it is an entirely different ballgame and Kupp is ready for the tough task ahead of the Rams in going on the road to take on the Detroit Lions. Some may view this as an entirely different season, but Kupp prefers to maintain his same process.

“Yeah, I don’t know if I kind of take that mentality,” Kupp added. “You hear it get called the second season, and it is. You have to earn this opportunity, but it is a continuation. Like I said, your process doesn’t change just because you hit this point, your process, how you prepare, none of that changes.

“I came in Wednesday just like I have every other Wednesday for the last however long, and it’s like, hey, this is just what we do. We’ve got another opportunity to go play football and that feeling doesn’t change.”

The Rams not only have an opportunity to play football, but also to go into Detroit and ruin the franchise’s first home playoff game in 30 years. With Kupp and the rest of the offense locked in, this contest will be one of the most anticipated of the weekend.
