Rams News: Brian Allen Ready To Start On Offensive Line

Despite entering this season seeming like a seasoned team, the Los Angeles Rams are still relatively young. Having played until February last season, they will need to rely on their youth to carry them back to the Super Bowl.

Part of the youth movement starts with Rams center Brian Allen. Allen is heading into his sophomore season and is expected to take over as the team’s starting center after the departure of veteran John Sullivan.

Sullivan played his 10th season last year and did not have his option picked up by Los Angeles this year.

According to Clarence Dennis of TheRams.com, Allen is ready to take on the challenge:

“With a year under my belt with some really good teammates to go against and to have a couple of experiences in the game, I know what’s coming now,” Allen told media members after going against a defense for the first time this offseason.

Allen was able to see some time on the field during his rookie year, appearing in 13 games last season, although he did not play in any post-season games. He spent his college years at Michigan State University and started over 30 games.

Heading into his second year, Allen is going to continue to develop a relationship with his quarterback, Jared Goff. According to head coach Sean McVay, Allen has done a good job communicating thus far. Allen and Goff have been speaking over the phone about Allen’s new role. Goff is confident his new young center will pick up where Sullivan left off.

Allen expressed that he is excited to get to work for the Rams and assume the starting role:

“I’m excited for the opportunity,” Allen added before heading into the locker room. “And this is what I’ve been working for my whole life — it’s here.”

With Training Camp getting underway, Allen will get a taste of action in his new role and continue to get acquainted with Goff.

Allen has stated that he is ready for the professional environment he is going to face. He felt that during his time in college that he was already playing a pro-style system.
