Rams News: 2020 Home Opponents At SoFi Stadium Announced

The Los Angeles Rams may have missed the postseason in 2019, however, they still have plenty to look forward to in the 2020 NFL season. The Rams announced the lucky teams that will be paying a visit to SoFi Stadium next year will be the Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers, Arizona Cardinals, New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots, New York Jets, and Chicago Bears.

Although the order of the schedule has yet to be determined, it is safe to say that the fans would not mind opening their new stadium against an NFC West rival like the Seahawks. After all, their matchups usually come down to the wire with the Rams getting the edge more often than not.

The 49ers experienced quite the resurgence in the 2019 campaign and have established themselves as bonafide playoff contenders. Their rise has only solidified this division as the best in football and are seemingly poised to provide a challenge for years to come.

L.A. has had the Cardinals’ number amidst their struggles as of late and this year was no different despite the arrival of head coach Kliff Kingsbury and quarterback Kyler Murray. Of course, it may soon be a matter of time before their rebuild pays dividends and they start to find their footing in this competitive division.

The Giants find themselves in the same boat as the Cardinals with a new rookie quarterback in Daniel Jones. The only difference is there is plenty of speculation regarding whether or not a new head coach is on the way after their abysmal two-year stretch.

One of the more exciting games of the bunch will be that of the Rams and the Cowboys. L.A. ended Dallas’ season in the playoffs last year, but the latter essentially managed to even the score in Week 15 this season by crushing the former’s postseason hopes in dominant fashion. It will be interesting to see which team is able to break the tie this time around in what will likely be a nationally televised game at SoFi Stadium.

Perhaps the most high-profile matchup of the 2020 campaign will be when the Patriots come to town though. This rematch of Super Bowl LIII will give head coach Sean McVay a chance to redeem himself against Bill Belichick after only managing to score three points on the big stage.

While the Jets may have broken the bank this offseason, they did not get much return on their investments. Regardless, this team still boasts plenty of talent and the return of former USC star quarterback Sam Darnold should make for quite the homecoming when they come to town.

And finally, the Bears are another team that fell vastly short of expectations after making the playoffs in 2018. Even if they struggle to get back on track, fans will still be treated to a showdown between two of the NFL’s premier pass-rushers in defensive tackle Aaron Donald and defensive end Khalil Mack. Additionally, it will be a bit of a rubber match with the two teams playing for a third consecutive season and splitting the first two games.
