Davante Adams, Rams, Seahawks

After defeating the Detroit Lions in Week 15, the Los Angeles Rams have a short turnaround to prepare for their biggest game of the season against the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday Night Football.

Unfortunately for the Rams, they will be a bit shorthanded in the matchup as wide receiver Davante Adams is inactive after re-injuring his hamstring last week.

The other inactives are Ahkello Witherspoon, Stetson Bennett IV, Jarquez Hunter, Beaux Limmer and Nick Hampton. That means that Braden Fiske is active after originally being listed as questionable with an ankle injury.

Head coach Sean McVay was hopeful that Adams and Fiske would be game-time decisions against the Seahawks, but with the Rams having already clinched a playoff berth, the team is exercising caution with Adams.

Thursday’s matchup at Lumen Field is still important for the Rams as a win over the Seahawks would give them an edge to not only win the NFC West, but clinch the No. 1 seed in the playoffs.

Another disappointing development for the Rams is that right tackle Rob Havenstein and tight end Tyler Higbee will likely need one more week before they are activated off injured reserve.

Even with the absences of the aforementioned players, the Rams still have enough talent to pick up a win on the road against the Seahawks, and whether they can do so will depend on other guys stepping up when it matters most.

Puka Nacua should be the focal point of the Rams’ passing attack on Thursday, while Jordan Whittington, Konata Mumpfield and Tutu Atwell should get more looks as well. Colby Parkinson could also get more red zone targets with Adams sidelined, and of course the Rams will lean on Kyren Williams and Blake Corum in the running game.

Rams head coach Sean McVay ready for Thursday Night Football after birth of son

Rams head coach Sean McVay announced on Tuesday that he and his wife, Veronika, welcomed a baby boy named Christian Alexander McVay.

Christian was born on Monday morning, a day after the Rams clinched a playoff berth with their 41-34 win over the Detroit Lions at SoFi Stadium.

McVay’s already busy week is about to get busier with the Rams traveling to Lumen Field for an important Thursday Night Football game against the Seattle Seahawks.

McVay discussed the challenges of a short turnaround but is grateful to be playing meaningful football this late in the season.
