David Long Jr. has been a member of the Los Angeles Rams secondary for the last four seasons. He was a third-round draft pick of the team in 2019 and worked his way towards more consistent playing time during his four seasons with L.A.

He appeared in 58 games — six in the playoffs — and made 11 starts, with one coming during the Rams Super Bowl run in 2021. In that time, he posted one interception, seven pass deflections and 77 total tackles.

Now, his time with the Rams has come to an end as he has agreed to a one-year contract with the Las Vegas Raiders, according to Jordan Schultz of The Score:

Breaking: FA CB David Long Jr. is signing a 1-year deal with the #Raiders, source tells @theScore

Only 25 years old, Long had 21 tackles and 1 PBU during his four starts with the #Rams last season.

Long was not a regular starter for the Rams during his four-year tenure in L.A. However, the 25-year-old’s departure signals yet another change happening in the Rams’ secondary. The Rams traded Jalen Ramsey to the Miami Dolphins earlier this offseason.

As of right now, the Rams cornerback room consists of Cobie Durant, Robert Rochell, Derion Kendrick and Shaun Jolly, a complete revamp from where they were just a couple of months ago.

If L.A. does not add any free agent cornerbacks, there is almost no doubt that they would look to add one during the NFL Draft with one of their many Day 2 and 3 selections.

The Rams offense is relatively unchanged from last season. It’s the defense that is seeing a complete overhaul as the Rams look to cut costs and rebuild for the 2024 season, when they project to have over $50 million in cap space and a refreshed set of draft picks.

L.A. remaining in contact with Odell Beckham Jr.

The Rams have very limited cap resources, even after releasing and trading a significant number of players. But that hasn’t stopped them from contacting free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. Beckham last played for the Rams in Super Bowl LVI when he tore his ACL.

He did not sign with a team for the entire 2022 season and has been doing private workouts in an attempt to land on a roster for the 2023 season. He had an instant rapport with quarterback Matthew Stafford and wide receiver Cooper Kupp during his brief stint in L.A.
