Rams Agree To Terms With Free Agent Wide Receiver Demarcus Robinson

The Los Angeles Rams will have a lot of starting spots up for grabs heading into the 2023 season after undergoing a roster overhaul.

The Rams had work to do to clear their books to get under the salary cap and in the process were forced to make tough decisions on several key players and veterans from last year’s team. In the wake of the aftermath stand pillars like Cooper Kupp and Aaron Donald, but beside them are plenty of young players and rookies looking to make names for themselves.

Offensively, Los Angeles does retain some continuity as they’ve got Matthew Stafford and Kupp back healthy with other returners such as Cam Akers and Van Jefferson flanking them. However, the wide receiver position behind Kupp and Jefferson remains largely unsettled after the team traded away Allen Robinson to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Tutu Atwell, Ben Skowronek and Puka Nacua all have legitimate shots to fill in that third receiver spot in Sean McVay’s offense, but Los Angeles also decided to bring in some reinforcements as they’ve reportedly signed free agent Demarcus Robinson, via Ian Rapoport of NFL Network:

Robinson spent last season with the Baltimore Ravens, but before that was with the Kansas City Chiefs. He is now the second receiver that the Rams have signed in free agency, the other being Tyler Johnson. With a suddenly crowded receiver room, it looks like L.A. is content with letting the position group battle amongst themselves for snaps during the upcoming year.

Robinson is a decent flier to take this late into free agency as he’s got experience playing in a high-powered offense as well as the knowledge of what it takes to win a Super Bowl. While not a burner, he is a solid outside receiver and is reliable as far as health goes as he’s never missed a game in his seven seasons in the NFL.

Cooper Kupp’s ankle making progress and feeling good at OTAs

Coming off a historic wide receiver season, Kupp’s follow up was a disappointment as he suffered a high-ankle sprain that cost him eight games of the 2022 campaign. Kupp underwent tightrope surgery to fix his ankle and is expected to be 100 percent healthy when the 2023 season kicks off.

As far as where he is currently, Kupp said he’s feeling good about where he is during OTAs.
