Raiders Rumors: Maxx Crosby Expected To Be Ready For Week 1 Despite Suffering Broken Hand In Preseason Opener

While training camp is just getting underway and only one preseason game has been played, the Oakland Raiders have already had some tough luck with injuries.

Star wide receiver Antonio Brown has not been practicing due to frostbite in his feet, Gabe Jackson is expected to miss a significant amount of time due to a knee injury and D.J. Killings was placed on IR after tearing his pectoral muscle in the preseason opener against the Los Angeles Rams.

It appears another player was also injured in Saturday’s game as according to Jerry McDonald of The Mercury News, rookie defensive end Max Crosby suffered a broken hand. He is expected to still be ready for Week 1 of the regular season though:

Defensive end Maxx Crosby sustained a broken hand early in the game, as reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal and The Athletic. A source said Crosby, a fourth-round pick who the Raiders view as a nickel pass rusher, will be ready for Week 1 of the regular season.

The Raiders drafted Crosby in the fourth round out of Eastern Michigan this year and he is expected to bolster their pass rush, which was the worst in the league last season.

While him missing the rest of training camp and the preseason as a rookie is not ideal, him being expected to be ready for Week 1’s contest against the Denver Broncos on Sept. 9 is certainly a positive.

With Crosby and others suffering injuries in the first preseason game, it will be interesting to see how head coach Jon Gruden manages his starters for the rest of the exhibition games with the main goal being them staying healthy leading up to Week 1.
