Raiders Rumors: Gabe Jackson To Miss Roughly 8 Weeks With MCL Injury In Left Knee

With Training Camp underway, the Oakland Raiders have already had some tough injury luck as star wide receiver Antonio Brown reported to camp with an injury in his feet that has kept him out of all but one practice.

Then on Thursday, one of the offense’s other best players, right guard Gabe Jackson was carted off during a joint practice with the Los Angeles Rams after suffering a leg injury.

Raiders head coach Jon Gruden expressed his concern after practice, although he did not have any further updates until Jackson underwent an MRI on his left knee.

It appears that Gruden’s concerns were warranted as Vic Tafur of The Athletic reported on Thursday night that Jackson is dealing with an MCL injury that will cause him to miss an extended period of time:

Raiders right guard Gabe Jackson will miss roughly eight weeks with a MCL injury in his left knee, league sources said Thursday night. That would put him on schedule to return after five regular-season games, as the Raiders have a bye on Oct. 13. Jackson had an MRI after practice on Thursday.

This is obviously not ideal for the Raiders, who will also be without starting left guard Richie Incognito for the first two games of the season due to a suspension.

After the Raiders drafted Jackson in the third round in 2014 out of Mississippi State, he has played in all but eight games in his five seasons with the team.

Backup lineman Denver Kirkland and Jordan Devey will not likely battle for the starting right guard job while Jackson is out.
