Raiders Rumors: Denzelle Good’s One-Year Extension Includes $1.4 Million Guaranteed & Playtime Incentives

The Oakland Raiders have put an emphasis on shoring up their offensive line in recent years by securing the likes of center Rodney Hudson, right tackle Trent Brown, and let guard Richie Incognito for the long haul.

Despite their efforts, this group endured its fear share of injuries throughout the course of the 2019 NFL season. Fortunately, reserve guard Denzelle Good proved top be a rather viable backup at multiple positions along the offensive line and it seems he has managed to leave quite the impression.

The Raiders recently announced that they have signed Good to a one-year contract extension, further suring up their depth up front. While the Raiders did not announce the terms of the extension, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, he will get $1.4 million guaranteed with the chance to earn more:

Denzelle Good’s 1-year extension with the #Raiders is worth $2.3 million, including $1.4M guaranteed. Max $3.3M with playtime incentives.

Good started five games this past season in place of an injured Incognito and Gabe Jackson. It appears he was able to do more than enough to stick around for the team’s relocation to Las Vegas for the 2020 NFL season.

Good began his career as a former seventh-round pick for the Indianapolis Colts before being released late in the 2018 campaign and subsequently picked up off waivers by Oakland. He appeared to be well on his way to becoming a starter until the team was able to sign Incognito last offseason.

Regardless, Good managed to play a vital role early on by filing in for Incognito while he serving his suspension to start the year. He was successfully able to make the switch back to the other side of the line when Jackson went down with an injury late in the season, showing off the kind of versatility that makes him such a valuable piece of their depth upfront.

The offensive line as a whole experienced a bit of a resurgence in the 2019 campaign and they will be looking to keep it going when they kick off a new era at Allegiant Stadium. Although they are hoping to keep this group as healthy as possible, they can take solace in the fact that they managed to secure a solid contingency plan with Good in the event that one of their key starters goes down.
