Despite the Jon Gruden scandal, which would derail most NFL franchises, the Las Vegas Raiders are rolling heading toward the NFL trade deadline on Tues. Nov. 2.

The Raiders are sitting atop the AFC West with a 5-2 record with two straight wins, a potentially bright future ahead during this 2021 NFL season. Although the Raiders are playing at a high level on both sides of the football, the storied franchise may still make a move before Tuesday’s deadline.

According to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, the Raiders have already had trade discussions involving Clelin Ferrell.

Speaking of draft busts, the Raiders have had discussions involving 2019’s fourth pick, Clelin Ferrell. The ex-Clemson star has 6.5 sacks in 32 career games, and none to date in 2021.

Ferrell has failed to live up to expectations since they drafted him out of Clemson back in 2019. Not only has he struggled during his time with the team, but the emergence of Maxx Crosby as a legitimate star at defensive end has kept him off the field.

Crosby has quickly become the backbone of the Raiders defense as he’s thrived this season as part of a dynamic duo with newcomer Yannick Ngakoue. As a result, Ferrell has become expendable and could be on the move before the deadline to improve other areas of the team or bring back draft picks.

Ferrell has recorded only three tackles in the three games he’s played this season. Unfortunately, those numbers likely won’t improve much moving forward if he stays in Las Vegas unless an injury forces him into the spotlight.
