Raiders News: Rookie Quinton Bell Expected To Miss Around 1 Week With Undisclosed Injury

The Oakland Raiders have already had more than their share of injuries this offseason. Antonio Brown had a mild injury and, of course, the season-ending injury to Isaiah Crowell will make for an interesting season.

Additionally, it was recently announced that offensive lineman Denzelle Good will miss at least one month.

Now, it appears that rookie defensive end Quinton Bell has suffered an injury. According to Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Bell will miss the next few days of Training Camp:

Jon Gruden said undisclosed injury to DE Quinton Bell “is not as serious as we feared.” Rookie seventh-round pick should return in a week to 10 days, he said.

It seems that Bell might not be available for the Raiders joint practice with the Los Angeles Rams. The teams are set to practice August 7 and 8, then face off in the preseason on August 10.

Bell is the nephew of former Raiders running back Nick Bell. The elder Bell was drafted in 1990 and spent three years with the team. The younger Bell was taken with the Raiders’ final pick in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

He is a member of the Raiders young group of defensive players that will hopefully turn around the team’s fortunes. Defense has not been the Raider’s strong suits the last few years, but adding six defensive players through the draft will definitely help.

Bell spent four years at Prairie A&M and for the first three years he played wide receiver. However, his final year the coaching staff decided that he might excel on the defensive end and that ended up with him leading his team in sacks.

Bell’s injury might slow him down and leave his chances of getting on the field in preseason somewhat limited. There are many young players that might get time above him. Additionally, the Raiders still have more seasoned players that could assume larger roles.

On top of that, Bell is sharing a position with No. 4 overall pick Clelin Ferrell. Although many have questioned the pick, Ferrell would be unlikely to come off the bench.
