Between injuries and COVID-related setbacks, the offensive line for the Las Vegas Raiders has been a work in progress during the course of the 2020 NFL season
This group had seemingly been a point of strength for the Raiders coming into the year given the heavy investment they made to fill each position. Unfortunately, two of its biggest names in right tackle Trent Brown and left guard Richie Incognito have rarely seen the field.
The Raiders were initially optimistic about Incognito potentially making his return from an Achilles injury he suffered during the Week 2 victory over the New Orleans Saints. However, it appears that will not be the case.
Head coach Jon Gruden has since confirmed that Incognito underwent season-ending foot surgery, per Tashan Reed of The Athletic:
OG Richie Incognito will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing foot surgery. He’s been out since Week 2 with an Achilles injury.

The loss of Incognito for the rest of the year undoubtedly deals a major blow up front. He was named as a Pro Bowl alternate in his first season with the Raiders and earned himself a two-year, $14 million extension in the offseason.
Fortunately, there is a silver lining in the fact that Denzelle Good has done a stellar job of stepping up and filling the void in Incognito’s absence. His play has earned him praise from Gruden and quarterback Derek Carr alike as he now gets set for a permanent, increased role.
Aside from the injuries, the Raiders had four key players on the Reserve/COVID-19 list in Brown, defensive end Clelin Ferrell, defensive back Lamarcus Joyner and linebacker Cory Littleton. Yet somehow, they still managed to give the Kansas City Chiefs a run for their money in Week 11 by nearly escaping with another win.
The sooner that this team can get back to near full strength, the better off they will be in trying to secure a spot in the playoffs.
