Raiders News: Nick Kwiatkoski Dealing With Virtual Team Meetings Well, Excited For 2020 Season

There is plenty to be excited about for the upcoming Las Vegas Raiders season. Not only will the team finally get to play in their new Las Vegas home, but they added some quality pieces during the offseason as well.

Linebacker Cory Littleton was a big add during free agency and every Raider fan is excited about the prospects of wide receiver Henry Ruggs III. However, the Raiders also added another key defender in former Chicago Bears linebacker Nick Kwiatkoski into the fold.

Although currently stuck in Chicago, Kwiatkoski shared his excitement over joining the team and eventually getting to work in person with his fellow defenders, via the Raiders’ official Twitter:

“Yea I’m doing well. I’m still in Chicago, working out and training. We started virtual meetings, things like that. It’s been good so far. It definitely takes a little more time, mentally, watching film, going over notes, things like that. We don’t get that experience of getting on the field and doing it for real. You just got to get those extra minutes in with the books, the film. It’s just a matter of communication and that starts before you even step on the field, practicing just kind of getting those calls out, working with everyone, just being able to communicate from the d-line all the way to the back end and just being smooth with it, working together, growing together, having trust in one another. That’s all things that go into being a great group, so I’m looking forward to being with those guys and working with them. Coach Gruden had called, he said during free agency, that was a big selling point for me, just being that first crop of guys to open a new stadium, new city. There’s a lot of exciting things surrounding the organization so I can’t wait to be a part of it.”

Although it still may be some time until the Raiders can meet in person, it is important that they are already building relationships. With Kiwatkoski being a new player on the team, hopefully he can still feel like a true member of the Silver and Black by the time on-field practice begins.

Kwiatkowski spent the last four years coming off the bench for the Bears. Last year he had his best year to date, putting up 56 solo tackles, three sacks and one interception. If he can carry over that success to Las Vegas and help the Raiders notch some wins, then that could end up being one of the best value signings of the offseason.
