Davante Adams’ time with the Las Vegas Raiders has drawn some similarities to another star wide receiver’s time with the franchise in Randy Moss. Both spent around two seasons with the franchise were unhappy with not winning, and were dealt away to an AFC East team for a mid-round draft pick.

Of course, when the Raiders traded Moss to the New England Patriots in 2007, he proceeded to have one of the greatest seasons a receiver has ever had. He broke the record for receiving touchdowns in a season with 23 and helped them to an undefeated regular season, eventually making the Super Bowl.

Expecting Adams to match that might be a bit of a stretch, but one superstar Raiders fan could see that happening. Milwaukee Bucks point guard and Oakland native Damian Lillard took to social media to voice his belief in Adams having a Moss-like impact with the Jets:

Now watch Tae go do a Randy Moss in New England smh

The first and most important thing for Adams is to get back on the field, as he has missed the last three weeks due to a hamstring injury. But it sounds like the receiver will be good to go moving forward, as he credited the Raiders training staff for helping him recover over this time. Adams also sounded optimistic about his ability to step right in, as there are a lot of the same concepts and verbiage from his previous time with Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay.

Lillard’s concerns are understandable, and many Raiders fans likely fear the same thing. Adams has always been about winning, and having Rodgers under center gives him a ton of confidence that he will be able to do that with the Jets, especially with the team’s many offensive weapons.

Now, the Raiders find themselves back at square one without a top receiver, and the road back to relevancy looks like a long one, much to the dismay of Lillard and the rest of the diehard fans.

Details of Raiders trading Davante Adams to the Jets

The Raiders agreed to deal Davante Adams to the Jets for a 2025 conditional third-round pick. That draft pick can turn into a second-round pick if Adams is named an All-Pro this season or if he is on the active roster for the Jets in either the AFC Championship Game or the Super Bowl.

The Jets also agreed to take on the remainder of Adams’ salary in order to make this deal work, completely clearing the Raiders of all financial obligations to the star receiver.
