The Las Vegas Raiders have stumbled out the gate of the 2023 season as they find themselves with a 1-2 record and another tough matchup in Week 4 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Their recent loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers was particularly disappointing as they took the lead early but then faltered in the second half. Josh McDaniels made the puzzling decision to kick a field goal with the team down eight points in the fourth quarter, a move that Josh Jacobs supported but Davante Adams refused to comment on.
Although the Raiders took the loss, it wasn’t because of Adams, as the star wideout had another productive showing. Adams recorded 13 receptions for 172 yards and two touchdowns, proving once again that he’s unguardable and is capable of blowing up any given week.
McDaniels has to feel fortunate to be coaching Adams and even went so far as to compare him to NFL legend Randy Moss whom he coached with the New England Patriots via Levi Edwards of Raiders.com:

Like Moss, Adams has a knack for the end zone, and while he might not win the same kind of jump balls the former Patriot used to come down with, he can still win against just about any sort of coverage.
Adams is widely regarded for his excellent route-running skills, but as McDaniels notes, he and Moss also are high-IQ football players who understand all the intricacies that come with playing wide receiver. Also they also have a great sense of space and how and when to get open so they can give their quarterbacks a clean passing window.
However, Adams is going to need more help from the rest of the offense if Las Vegas wants to turn things around. It’s definitely high praise to be compared to Moss, but Adams surely cares more about wins at this point.
Davante Adams says Aidan O’Connell has opened a lot of eyes
Jimmy Garoppolo is currently questionable to suit up against the Chargers after being placed in the NFL’s concussion protocol. McDaniels could opt to start Brian Hoyer if Garoppolo is unable to go, though Adams seems to support Aidan O’Connell getting the nod after saying the rookies opened a lot of eyes.
