Raiders News: Foster Moreau To Potentially Miss Remainder Of Season After Suffering Knee Injury

The Oakland Raiders had a rough go on Sunday as after putting up a competitive game in the first half against the Tennessee Titans, they were blown out in the second half and wound up losing, 42-21.

To add insult to injury, quite literally, the Raiders once again come out of the game banged and bruised. In particular, it was concerning to see rookie tight end Foster Moreau leave during the third quarter with an apparent knee injury.

Although there is no medical diagnosis of what occurred, Raiders head coach Jon Gruden revealed after the game that he believes Moreau may be out for the rest of the season, via Jimmy Durkin of The Athletic:

Gruden says Foster Moreau’s injury is potentially season-ending.

Moreau has been yet another member of a very talented Raiders rookie class this year. He has totaled 174 receiving yards on 21 catches, becoming a consistent piece in Oakland’s deep tight end rotation.

He was excepted, along with the rest of the receivers, to step up in the absence of rookie wide receiver Hunter Renfrow, who is dealing with a fractured rib and punctured lung and may not be able to return until the last game or two.

With Renfrow and Moreau out, the Raiders are once again strapped for assets as they prepare for their final three games. It is likely that Derek Carrier will start seeing more time as a result of Moreau’s injury.

Carrier has had a fine albeit quiet season thanks to Darren Waller and Moreau pulling their weight at the tight end spot. The seven-year veteran has totaled 87 yards on just nine receptions in limited action.

Keelan Doss has also seen more time as a result of Renfrow’s injury. The Alameda native finished the game against the Titans with three receptions for 26 yards to bring his season total up to 116 yards.

To have the end of the season be filled with so many injuries for Oakland is disheartening, to say the least. The young group of Raiders players clearly are very dedicated to the organization, and although they won’t make the postseason this year, they have a lot to be optimistic about going into the future and Moreau is one reason for that.
