With only a couple more weeks until the 2023 NFL Draft, teams are deep in their prep work as they look to add young talent to their rosters.
The Las Vegas Raiders are entering a pivotal time as they’re clearly looking to win now and will need to select wisely this time around. The Raiders own the No. 7 overall pick in the draft and have met with all the top prospects in this year’s class, including the group of quarterbacks.
Las Vegas has met with Bryce Young, CJ Stroud, Will Levis, Anthony Richardson and Hendon Hooker which signals they are at least thinking of drafting Jimmy Garoppolo’s successor this year. After the top-five signal callers, there’s a significant drop off in talent though there could still be value had in the later rounds.
It appears the Raiders might think their future quarterback could be had outside of Day 1 as they’re reportedly set to meet with Dorian Thompson-Robinson via Jeremy Fowler of ESPN:
UCLA’s Dorian Thompson-Robinson, one of the more intriguing QBs in the draft, has visited the #Browns, #49ers, #Raiders, #Chargers, #Eagles and #Bengals, per source. Some teams intrigued by his mobility/arm strength.

Thompson-Robinson might be worth a look on Day 3 as he’s a dual-threat who showed some real flashes last season playing under Chip Kelly at UCLA. Last season, Thompson-Robinson threw for 3,169 yards for 27 touchdowns and ran for 645 yards and 12 touchdowns. However, he did turn the ball over quite a bit as he threw 10 interceptions.
For his college career, the UCLA product recorded 10,710 passing yards, 1,826 rushing yards and 114 total touchdowns. There are obvious physical tools that make Thompson-Robinson an intriguing prospect, though there are several questions about his ability to throw at the professional level.
Given that Las Vegas has Garoppolo under contract for three years, it would make sense for them to take a dart throw on a developmental quarterback like Thompson-Robinson if they decide to pass up on one of the first-round ones. The Raiders can’t afford to waste their resources as they have in recent drafts, so it’ll be interesting to see what direction they go in when their name’s on the clock.
Meeting with Anthony Richardson went very well
At No. 7, the Raiders are very likely to miss out on Young and Stroud who are considered to be the best quarterbacks of the class. However, Richardson has seen his name gain steam in recent weeks, and he might have caught Las Vegas’ attention during their meeting as it reportedly went very well.
