Raiders News: Derek Carr Excited To Get Antonio Brown Back, Expects Him To Be Ready For Week 1

The Oakland Raiders start to training camp has been an eventful one as star wide receiver Antonio Brown has missed most of camp and the preseason due to injury. He was also dealing with a league issue as the helmet he has used throughout his entire career is no longer certified.

Despite all that, the Raiders still were able to go out and in their first preseason and overpower the Los Angeles Rams to the tune of a 14-3 victory without Brown, Derek Carr and many of the other starters.

Now that Brown has finally returned to camp, Carr thinks his impact will be felt and expressed his excitement to get to get to practice with his top target, via Vic Tafur of The Athletic:

“Obviously we’re excited to have him and can’t wait for him to suit up and be out there with us. It’s always exciting when you get one of your teammates back from injury or they’re out for some other reasons. Anytime a teammate comes back it always brings life to the team.”

Brown missed most of training camp due to frostbite suffered at a cryogenic recovery facility. A bizarre injury along with a new bizarre protest of helmets will hopefully not sidetrack the Raiders season.

Due to Brown’s myriad of issues, he and Carr have had only minimal time to develop chemistry. Despite that, Brown and Carr got along well in their small amount of shared time.

While there still does not appear to be an official timeline for Brown’s return, Carr believes that the potentially dynamic duo will be ready to go by Week 1:

Carr is expected to make his preseason debut on Thursday against the Arizona Cardinals. Brown will not be joining him and the rest of the Silver and Black, but the plan all along was to have him ready for the regular season, and it looks like that will be the case.
