Raiders News: Derek Carr Cautiously Optimistic About Another 2-0 Start

After going through disappointing ends to seasons in the past, Las Vegas Raiders star quarterback Derek Carr knows not to get too excited about a 2-0 start to the 2021 campaign.

The Raiders were able to pull out another impressive win on Sunday, with Carr and company taking down yet another AFC North opponent with Super Bowl aspirations. Las Vegas held its own against the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road as the Silver and Black proved resilient in their efforts to remain undefeated with a 26-17 victory over Ben Roethlisberger’s squad.

Following the team’s second win of the season, Carr let it be known that he’s happy about winning for a second consecutive week but is cautiously optimistic considering what’s happened in the past.

“You’ve still got to put the ball down,” Carr said. “You’ve still got to play. And whatever team put the work in and is on their stuff, on their details, that’s the team that ultimately, hopefully, will end up winning … We’ve started 2-0 before, but we’ve got to keep going. We can’t let this thing go downhill.”

Although the defense has come through in the first two weeks of the season for the Silver and Black, Carr has put up monster numbers and could start receiving MVP buzz if he can keep leading the team to victories.

Carr has thrown for 817 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception, with a passer rating of 104.1 and a completion percentage of 66.7 in the season’s first two games.

In Week 3, Carr and company will have their work cut out for them once again as they’ll head back home to play host to the Miami Dolphins at Allegiant Stadium.
