Raiders Injury News: Tyrell Williams Plantar Fasciitis Rehab Going Well

Less than a year ago, the Oakland (now Las Vegas) Raiders were getting ready for the 2019 season after what they believed to be a solid offseason. They had gathered some young players to build around, inked a solid receiver in Tyrell Williams and traded for an even better wide receiver in Antonio Brown.

Of course, the rookies turned out to be more than okay, but the receivers fell apart throughout the course of the year. Brown was cut after numerous disputes with the Raiders and the NFL, while Williams began suffering from foot injuries early on in the season.

Even after Brown’s dismissal, they held out hope that Williams could assume the role of No. 1 option, but his injuries proved to be too much. The team was able to put together a solid season despite having little to no threats at wide receiver, but it was clear they were missing at least one more threat at the position.

With renewed optimism for 2020, many are hopeful that Williams can get healthy and back to being a productive player. According to Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Williams is having a solid recovery process thus far:

Some good news for @Raiders. I’m hearing WR Tyrell Williams is making good progress on the Plantar fasciitis issues he had with his feet last year. A healthy Williams makes a big difference

Relying on Williams turning things around will likely not be the Raiders’ only hope this offseason. Even if he can become a solid option, one more competent receiver would make the offense incredibly versatile. Although tight end Darren Waller has emerged as the Raiders’ go-to option in the passing game, having just one more threat would free up the entire team much more.

Jon Gruden has already stated that Williams health is a big priority for him. With the pressure from the coaching staff, hopefully Williams can put forth all his efforts and attention to getting 100% healthy for the 2020 season.
