The Las Vegas made some big changes to their coaching staff, firing offensive coordinator Luke Getsy after the team’s offensive struggles during their 2-7 start. Additionally, the Raiders also parted ways with QB coach Rich Scangarello and offensive line coach and offensive line coach James Cregg leaving some questions about Antonio Pierce’s staff.
Who will take over as offensive coordinator and call plays remains unclear at the moment, but Pierce and the Raiders are bringing in another big-name to help turn this offense around.
According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, longtime NFL assistant and head coach Norv Turner is coming out of retirement to join Pierce’s Raiders staff:
Former #Raiders coach Norv Turner is coming out of retirement to join Las Vegas’ remodeled offensive staff, sources tell me, @RapSheet and @MikeGarafolo.

Turner was long viewed as one of the best offensive minds in the NFL, being the offensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys during their back-to-back Super Bowls in the mid-1990s. He had his ups and downs as a head coach in the NFL, but as an assistant he can certainly provide something to this Raiders staff. As Pelissero noted, Turner’s son is on the Raiders staff and that surely played a role in him coming out of retirement.
The Raiders’ offense has been abysmal this season, outside of their ability to score on opening drives. They rank at or near the bottom of the NFL in total points and yards as well as rushing and turnovers. A lot of issues need to be addressed and it isn’t just about finding the right quarterback.
Hopefully Turner can bring something different to the table that can give this offense a spark and help Pierce begin turning things around for this team and perhaps salvage the season.
Tim Brown sends message to Raiders amidst current struggles
This season has not gone the way anyone within the Raiders organization hoped it would and that also goes to the legends of the franchise. Tim Brown has always been someone who speaks his mind on all things Raiders and he sent a message to the team recently amidst this lost season.
Brown reiterated the love that he has for the Raiders franchise before saying that the least all the players can do is give their best effort for this team and hoping they are proud of what they are giving.
