Raiders Announce Re-Signing Of OG Jordan Meredith

The Las Vegas Raiders announced on Monday that they have re-signed offensive guard Jordan Meredith, an undrafted free agent from 2021 who has spent time with both the Los Angeles Rams and Cleveland Browns over the last three seasons.

Meredith, 26, has only appeared in NFL games for the Raiders, spending time on the Rams and Browns’ practice squads. He played all 17 games last season with one start. He played in 92 offensive snaps and 65 special teams snaps, seeing the field in 9% and 15% of the Raiders snaps, respectively.

He originally signed with the Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2021, but the team cut him prior to the preseason.

Meredith signed with the Raiders in February 2022, and although he was waived again prior to the preseason, he re-signed to the team’s practice squad and found a more permanent home.

He played one game in 2022, seeing action on 41 offensive snaps and four on special teams. While he hasn’t seen the field much over the last two seasons, he has clearly been a positive factor in the organization, both as a member of the practice squad and the active roster.

Raiders scheduled to meet with Michael Penix Jr.

After the top three quarterback prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft, who are expected to be the first three overall picks, there is another group of signal-callers that are also very intriguing and could be where the Las Vegas Raiders look to add to the position. Perhaps the one who isn’t getting as much attention, for some reason, is Washington’s Michael Penix Jr.

Penix was the 2023 Heisman Trophy runner-up but was a First-Team All-American and Maxwell Award winner after throwing for 4,903 yards and 36 touchdowns, leading the Huskies to the CFP National Championship Game.

Penix recently wowed everyone in attendance at the University of Washington Pro Day, both with his arm and feet. Following the performance, the quarterback revealed that he has a handful of visits coming up, one of which is with the Raiders.

The Raiders are looking for that franchise quarterback, and maybe Penix is that guy. At this moment, choosing him at 13th overall might be a reach, but there is also no guarantee he will be available when the Raiders pick in the second round so the team may have a decision to make if they view him as their guy.
