Raiders Among Betting Favorites To Sign Lamar Jackson

After finishing the 2022 season with a disappointing 6-11 record and failing to make the playoffs, significant changes figure to be on the horizon for the Las Vegas Raiders.

The team most notably will be in the market for a new quarterback after benching Derek Carr for the final two games of the regular season and starting Jarrett Stidham in his place.

The Raiders reportedly have already begun exploring potential deals for Carr, who holds a no-trade clause and essentially controls his own destiny. Any move would have to be completed by February 15, as that is the date when Carr’s $40 million salary for next season becomes guaranteed.

As the Raiders try to find a home for Carr, they have also been linked to several high-profile quarterbacks that could become available this offseason, including Tom Brady, Jimmy Garoppolo and Aaron Rodgers.

And though they haven’t been publicly linked to him to this point, the Raiders are also among the favorites to sign Lamar Jackson, via br_betting:

Jackson is coming off a productive, albeit injury-plagued season with the Baltimore Ravens, in which he only played in 12 games. He has been sidelined since Week 13 due to a PCL strain in his left knee and did not travel with the team for their NFL Wild Card Round matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Jackson is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent, but the Ravens will likely give him the franchise tag for a second consecutive year if a long-term deal can’t be reached by March 7.

A trade isn’t out of the question, either, as some of Jackson’s teammates and head coach John Harbaugh expressed frustration with his inability to return to the field. Jackson also posted a cryptic message on Instagram that suggested he doesn’t feel appreciated by the franchise.

If the Ravens decide to move on Jackson, they will be seeking a massive return, and the Raiders — flush with draft picks and cap space — will be in a position to acquire him.
