Erik Karlsson inches closer to return

Paul Gackle: San Jose Sharks defenseman Erik Karlsson participated in full practice on Wednesday. However, Pete DeBoer was still mum on when the All-Star defenseman would return. He mentioned the progress, no setbacks, and a few more practices were possibly needed.

Parise played last night but not at practice on Wednesday

Dane Mizutani: With nothing to play for, Zach Parise was nowhere to be found during practice on Wednesday. This led to more speculation that the winger would indeed be shut down for the rest of the 2018-19 season. The question is what is injured.

Andreas Johnsson still ill, Muzzin battling food poisoning

Mark Masters: Forward Andreas Johnsson was held out again on Tuesday along with Jake Muzzin so they would not get worse. They remain game-time decisions on Thursday against the Tampa Bay Lightning

Darcy Kuemper despite an injury, flew with Arizona to Vegas

Craig Morgan:  Darcy Kuemper flew to Vegas with the Coyotes today. Rick Tocchet said an update will come after the morning skate on Thursday. Adin Hill has been called up for Arizona just in case.

Jeremy Davies makes deal with the Devils

Corey Masisak of The Athletic: The Devils signed Davies to a two-way entry-level contract on Wednesday. Davies is a Hobey Baker Award finalist and played three years at Northeastern. It is a two-year deal which begins in 2019-20. The seventh-round draft pick truly is a showcase of modern player development. Tom Fitzgerald (New Jersey Assistant General Manager) referred to Davies’ ability at the next level.

“It should translate, because of his sense and his vision and skill. I think we saw it at the Beanpot. When the competition got tougher, he rose to the occasion and played better. I think playing with other smart hockey players, he’ll just shine for sure.”
