On what the Oilers would like for Puljujarvi

@Prospect_Watch: Ryan Rishaug said on TSN that the Edmonton Oilers are looking to get a prospect who could be a top-nine player and a 1st round pick for Jesse Puljujarvi.

If the Oilers do a one-for-one deal they would like to a get a player with term who could play right now.

Ryan Rishaug: The Oilers have had trade talks with several teams in the past few weeks about Puljujarvi. There is some interest, but unless GM Ken Holland gets what he wants, he likely isn’t going to make the trade.

The sense is that he wants a prospect and a draft pick, or an NHL player that can help now with that has term left.

Don’t believe that just a 2nd round pick would be enough.

The Oilers have made several attempts to bring him back to the team but Puljujarvi is insisting that he wants a change of scenery.

Holland not close to trading Puljujarvi

NHL.com: Edmonton Oilers GM Ken Holland said that he is talking to teams about Jesse Puljujarvi but his not close to completing a trade.

“Am I talking to teams as we go? Yeah. I have a pretty clear thought in my own mind what I’d like if I was going to move him, philosophically how a deal would go down,” Holland said. “I’m open to a couple of different ways. I’ve had some good talks, a couple of conversations with teams that have intrigued me, but ultimately, it’s not quite there.”

Holland added that it may be good for Puljujarvi to play in Finland this year and isn’t guaranteeing that he’ll trade him by the December 1st deadline (Puljujarvi’s NHL out clause).

Signing with Karpat may not have much of an effect on the situation

Mark Spector of Sportsnet: GM Ken Holland said yesterday that Jesse Puljujarvi signing with Karpat will not have a big effect on the situation.

“I don’t know that him signing in Finland has a huge effect on the situation,” Holland said on Tuesday morning, adding that is better for everyone that Puljujarvi is playing somewhere rather than holding out. “I’ve had conversations with numerous clubs that have had interest, some interest, in acquiring Jesse. And I have had, probably in the last 10 days, two or three new teams reach out to me. Teams whose positions have changed, and are checking into the Puljujarvi situation.”

An Injury to a team’s right-winger or if someone doesn’t pan out as hoped could increase interest in Puljujarvi at the start of the season.

Sebastian Aho’s (Carolina) dad is the GM of Karpat. Puljujarvi skated with Aho this offseason and he might happy with the idea of reuniting with Aho in Carolina.
