NHL Rumors: The Dallas Stars And Minnesota Wild Off To Slow Starts
The Dallas Stars are off to a slow start, but they have to figure it out

Mike Heika of NHL.com: The Dallas Stars are off to a slow start, their offense and power play are struggling. They’ve had a heavy schedule with tough teams and travel between most games.

Stars GM Jim Nill on if management can change the dynamic of a team during the season.

“You can do some things. I’m talking to general managers every day, I’m talking to our scouts every day. You’re always trying to get better every day. But the salary cap comes into play, assets come into play. A lot of trades are conversations that took place two months ago, so you just keep at it and keep at it, and then you see what happens. But, in the end, what we’re going through right now … players, coaches, management, we have to figure this out together.”

The Minnesota Wild have struggled out of the gate, but they will be patient

Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic: Minnesota Wild GM Bill Guerin wants to properly evaluate what he has before making changes to his roster.

Guerin when asked what he’s learned from working with Ray Shero and Jim Rutherford in the past.

“Hey look it, the one thing I learned from both those guys is that if it’s going to help your team, then do it. They made the right moves at the right time in what they felt would help the team and if it didn’t work out, then you make moves again. I’m not afraid to do that. I just want to make sure that I’m giving the guys right here right now a fair shake. I’ve said this before, I don’t want to just do something just so I can put my mark on the team. I want to make sure I’m doing the right thing.”

Though it’s early, Guerin on the strength and weaknesses of the Wild.

“I think if you look at our team, you’d probably say our D corps is the strength of our team and our goaltending. I think over time we can get even better. Obviously, I feel we can improve up front. But I think as a whole, I think we can get better. It might take a bit of time but with planning and making good moves, strategically and not just throwing things against the wall to see if they stick; we’ll be fine.”
