Lee’s agent talking with Lamoriello … Islanders may be concerned about term

Arthur Staple: During Thursday’s morning skate pending free agent Anders Lee agent was talking to New York Islanders GM Lou Lamoriello.

Brett Cyrgalis of the NY Post: The New York Islanders don’t want another ‘John Tavares situation’ to happen with Anders Lee.

Neil Sheehy, Lee’s agent was talking to GM Lamoriello the other day at practice, but that is not out of the norm according to Lee.

“He comes all the time,” Lee said, trying to downplay the encounter.

“Nothing new!” to report according to Sheehy in an email.

Lee continues to say “things will work themselves out.”

Chris Nichols on Nichols on Hockey: Elliotte Friedman on his 31 Thoughts: The Podcast was asked about the New York Islanders pending free agents.

“Do you really believe that Lou Lamoriello is going to tip anyone off as to what he wants to do?” mused Friedman.

“No chance,” agreed Marek.

“The one I’ve heard about Lee is the Islanders are concerned about the term,” indicated Friedman. “That’s all I’ve heard. No questions about the player or the willingness to keep him, it’s all about the term on him.”

More on the Flames-Wild trade that didn’t happen

Chris Nichols of Nichols on Hockey: Elliotte Friedman on his 31 Thoughts: The Podcast when asked about the reported failed Calgary Flames-Minnesota Wild trade.

“It was not Central Registry,” indicated Friedman. “I don’t think the deal ever got there. Quite simply, whatever happened I think it ran out of time and didn’t get finalized by 3:00 Eastern to be sent in to Central Registry. I don’t think it ever got there. Well, I know it never got there.”

The two teams were having serious discussions but they didn’t get in the queue with any deal by the 3:00 PM deadline.

Wild’s Jason Zucker was one of the pieces talked about. Friedman believes that Michael Frolik and a high draft pick were also discussed.
