Scott Laughton could be one player who’s going to get a bigger number than expected

NHL Rumour Report: Chris Johnston on TSN First Up on pending UFA Scott Laughton: “I’m sure the Kings want to keep him but…he’ll be one of those guys I would wager that when we see his number on July 1st, he’s gonna get a contract beyond what we were talking about.”

Three, four, more years for John Carlson?

NHL Rumour Report: Frank Seravalli on Frankly Hockey on John Carlson and the Carolina Hurricanes: “This might actually stretch out longer than three , that’s at least what the Cans are trying to propose…four, maybe even longer; Chris Tanev style deal.”

Tire kicking on Connor Hellebuyck

TSN: Darren Dreger on the Connor Hellebuyck, Winnipeg Jets situation.

“So, all parties who are interested in Hellebuyck continue to work at it. They’re trying to be as creative as they can be. Many of the teams that we speculated on remain kind of there as tire kickers, with the exception of the Panthers, and there’s some curiosity around the Carolina Hurricanes. Less so around the New Jersey Devils, there was that speculation when Markstrom got moved.”

The Detroit Red Wings and David Perron continue to talk, but free agency is likely

Frank Seravalli: David Perron and the Detroit Red Wings continue to talk, and he’s open to re-signing, but it’s looking like he’ll go to free agency at noon.

Zach Werenski Trying to get to Toronto or Tampa?

The Red Wings remain in a bind with Dylan Larkin

TSN: Whenever Dylan Larkin gets moved, Vincent Trocheck likely isn’t far behind, according to Darren Dreger. Some teams have circled back to the New York Rangers about Trocheck. Larkin hasn’t been willing to expand his list yet.

“That puts the Detroit Red Wings in a real bind here. They know what they need to replace the talent of Larkin. They can’t go backwards in a deal like this.”

If the Wings can’t find a deal, and Larkin won’t expand his list, Yzerman and the Wings expect him to show up to training camp, which would be awkward.
