NHL Rumors: Jake DeBrusk and Richard Panik
Jake DeBrusk sees the RFA template via McAvoy and Carlo

Joe Haggerty of NBC Sports BostonJake DeBrusk saw what the future may hold for him as far as his next contract (likely next summer). The eventual restricted free agent sees other comparables as well. Brock Boeser and Travis Konecny are the two most looked at forwards but Konecny is the closest comparison. Konecny recently was signed to a six-year, $5.5 million AAV deal to stay in Philadelphia.

“Obviously that’s going to be my situation . Hopefully not , but maybe, possibly next year just looking around the league you see different things with guys dragging it out,” said DeBrusk, who will be joined by Brett Ritchie and Matt Grzelcyk as next summer’s restricted free agents for the Bruins. “It’s one of those where you ask questions on the business side of it. Things change and different stuff happens with talks, but at the same time I mostly just try to stay out of it. I try to stay dialed in to get ready for training camp and the season. I guess when that time comes, though, I’ll be more aware of what to expect.”

Again, the key for Jake DeBrusk will be improving on his 27-goal regular season after a subpar playoff. He averaged less than a point every other game (11 points in 24 playoff games). If the Boston Bruins forward can produce a 40-50 plus point season, the 22-year old looks to see a nice payday in the summer of 2020.

Richard Panik eyes the future in Washington

Samantha Pell of The Washington Post:  Like Jake DeBrusk in a sense, Panik knows the standard he has to meet in Washington. He produced a 44-point season three years ago in Chicago.

“Washington is an offensive team, so there are going to be plenty of opportunities, and I have to execute them.”

Again, it becomes that simple. Panik has been dogged by inconsistency throughout most of his career. Panik expects to play with Lars Eller and Carl Hagelin and might even see a little power-play time. The winger produced 33 points on an Arizona team that did not feature a 50-point or 20-goal scorer. He was more consistent but that consistency needs offense.
