NHL News: Waivers, Brian Boyle, Mark Borowiecki and Marc-Edouard Vlasic
Beleskey and Kempe to waivers

Elliotte Friedman: The Arizona Coyotes placed Mario Kempe on waivers. The New York Rangers placed Matt Beleskey on waivers.

Frank Seravalli: Beleskey has been scratched for 108 of his past 148 games. He has one more year on his deal after this year. He had signed a five-year, $19 million deal.

Cap Friendly: Beleskey has a $1.9 million salary cap hit for the Rangers this season. The Bruins retained 50 percent of his salary from the Rick Nash trade last year. If he clears waivers and is assigned to the AHL, he’ll still count towards the Rangers cap, but it will be reduced to $875,000.

Boyle’s cancer is in remission

Mike Morreale of NHL.com: New Jersey Devils forward Brian Boyle announced yesterday that his chronic myeloid leukemia is now in remission. He was diagnosed back on September 19th of 2017.

“A test (BCR-ABL1) looks for the leukemia cells in your blood and when I was first diagnosed, it was at 75 percent,” Boyle said Wednesday. “At the end of last season, it was at .08 percent, and in July I was .04 percent. The results showed all zeros on Monday. It’s full molecular remission, and I feel really good. It was kind of the way the progression was happening the last few tests. When I told my wife, she was excited and got emotional.

“The game plan has been working well, and now I’m just going to continue with it. It was good news, but it doesn’t change a whole lot for me and I’ll continue taking the medicine.”

Senators Mark Borowiecki suspended for one game

Dhiren Mahiban: Ottawa Senators Mark Borowiecki’s one-game suspension will cost him $6,451.61 in salary.

Vlasic added to the NHL embellishment list?

Darren Dreger: San Jose Sharks Marc-Edouard Vlasic will likely find his name on the NHL’s embellishment list now. The GM’s haven’t liked video review for this type of thing in the past.

This is embarrassing! Video review should be allowed on these calls. Not the refs fault at all. It would keep the players honest pic.twitter.com/0KElJ8LctH
