Matt Porter: Boston Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy said that defenseman Torey Krug will be out tonight but “hopefully he’s better next week.”

Bill Hoppe: Buffalo Sabres Johan Larsson is listed as day-to-day with an upper-body injury according to coach Ralph Krueger. He is a possibility for tonight.

Wes Gilbertson: Calgary Flames GM Brad Treliving said that defenseman T.J. Brodie is physically sore and that he doesn’t remember collapsing at practice.

Eric Francis of Sportsnet: A Flames physician said that Brodie is out of danger but they don’t know yet what caused him to collapse.

“The reasons for why people faint are many, and dehydration certainly could be one of them,” said Dr. Ian Auld at a Friday morning press conference to discuss the scary episode that still has teammates, staffers and media-types who witnessed the dramatic episode shaken.

“At this point we don’t have all the information – we still have a few more tests to go – but it’s very likely related more to a fainting episode than it is something significant inside the brain.”

There is no timetable on when he might return.

Pat Steinberg: The Flames have put defenseman Juuso Valimaki on the LTIR and recalled defenseman Oliver Kylington.

Pat Steinberg: With both Valimaki and Austin Czarnik on the LTIR, the Flames have just over $700,000 in available salary cap space.

Andrew Gross: New York Islanders forward Matt Martin practiced yesterday in a no-contact jersey. He’s still on the IR with a lower-body injury.

  • Jonas Siegel: Maple Leafs coach Mike Babcock when asked about a timeline for Kerfoot: “Yeah, I didn’t have the courage to ask, to be honest with you.”

Jonas Siegel: Maple Leafs forward Trevor Moore left last night’s game with a shoulder injury.

Patrick Johnston of the Vancouver Province: Vancouver Canucks forward Brandon Sutter has been put on the IR with a groin strain. He’ll be re-evaluated in a week.

Tarik El-Bashir: Washington Capitals Nic Dowd (hand) and Carl Hagelin (upper-body) missed last night’s game.

  • Samantha Pell: Hagelin practiced yesterday in a no-contact jersey. He has now missed four consecutive games.
