NHL Injury updates

Boston Bruins: Forward David Backes returned to the lineup last night.

Forward Patrice Bergeron skated before their morning skate yesterday.

Forward Brett Ritchie skated yesterday morning in a no-contact jersey.

Joe Haggerty: Bruins defenseman John Moore, who is on the LTIR after shoulder surgery, has been sent to Providence of the AHL on a conditioning stint.

Aaron Portzline: Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Zach Werenski will be out for a month after suffering a shoulder injury on Saturday.

Ansar Khan: The Detroit Red Wings reassigned goaltender Calvin Pickard to the AHL. Goaltender Eric Comrie will remain with the team while Jimmy Howard is out with an injury. Coach Jeff Blashill said that Howard’s injury is not long-term.

Edmonton Oilers: Goaltender Mike Smith is listed day-to-day with a leg injury.

Forward Zack Kassian missed last night’s game with a back injury and is listed as day-to-day.

Defenseman Kris Russell missed yesterday’s game to be with his wife for the birth of their second kid.

Amanda Stein: New Jersey Devils forward Jack Hughes is listed as day-to-day. It’s possible that he’ll be ready for Tuesday.

Pittsburgh Penguins: Defenseman Brian Dumoulin had ankle surgery yesterday and will be out for at least eight weeks. He suffered lacerated tendons in his left ankle during Saturday’s game.

Brendan Batchelor: Vancouver Canucks defenseman Alex Edler missed last night’s game and will be out Tuesday as well.

Forward Antoine Roussel wasn’t ready to return yesterday but could be an option on Tuesday.

Vegas Golden Knights: Coach Gerard Gallant said that forward Cody Eakin will be out week-to-week with an upper-body injury.

Tarik El-Bashir: Washington Capitals forward Carl Hagelin is expected to be activated from the LTIR before Tuesday’s game.
